Meet the Team

  • Education/Practice

    Kathleen graduated from Nazareth University in 2016 with her Doctorate in Physical Therapy, and has been practicing for over 7 years. She has extensive practice in treating general orthopedics, pelvic floor, and pregnant and post-partum women. Kathleen has attended continuing education courses to advance her knowledge in treating the fitness athlete, as well as assessment and treatment of internal and external pelvic floor. Additionally, as a former high-level competitive gymnast, Kathleen enjoys helping young athletes reduce injuries, stay strong, and achieve their goals.

    Outside of her PT practice, Kathleen co-owns and coaches at Harborside CrossFit. Kathleen enjoys spending time with her husband and 2 daughters, Payton and Logan, and can’t wait to get her girls into the gym for their first CrossFit kids class!

    Motivation

    Kathleen’s passion for movement, desire to help new mom’s navigate pregnancy and the postpartum period, and love of all aspects of health and fitness drove her to begin Empower Physio PT

    Her goal for you is to feel empowered and in control of your own health, reach your goals, and continue doing the things you love, whether that is chasing your kids, preparing for labor/birth, participating in sports, or learning how to prevent injuries.

    I started doing physical therapy at Empower Physio PT a couple of months ago. I had chronic shoulder pain for years which led to a bicep’s injury. Kathleen has been an absolute lifesaver. Unlike other physical therapy organizations, Kathleen gives you one on one attention, which is so rare, and you spend your entire session working directly with her. Within a few sessions I was already starting to feel better and now two months later I do not have chronic shoulder pain any longer. The thing I like the most is that you are not just a number or client X, Kathleen consistently follows up with you to check in and does more than fix the immediate issue but gives you the tools to maintain your healthy body. If you have pain or issues, I highly recommend giving Kathleen a call, you will not regret it.

FAQs

  • A: No, the state of NY is “Direct Access” so there is no need for a doctor’s prescription for therapy. After 10 visits or 30 days, you will need a referral from your doctor.

  • A: Empower Physio PT is not in-network with any insurance. We are happy to give you a superbill to submit to your insurance carrier for reimbursement for out-of-network services.

  • We care very much about the quality of care you receive. As an out-of-network provider, we are choosing to free ourselves from the constraints of insurance protocols and visit limitations in order to ensure an extremely high level of patient care.

    Insurance companies don’t look at patient care like we do. At Empower Physio you will work one-on-one with Dr. Kathleen Schoell, a licensed Doctor of Physical Therapy who cares about you and your goals. You will have her undivided attention for the duration of your treatment, and we will teach you how to be your own advocate in your healthcare journey.

  • Our passion and expertise here at Empower Physio is in human movement, and teaching you how to take control of your own body! By taking a look at how you move, we are able to help you fix muscle imbalances and mobility issues which will keep you injury free. Think of us as your routine musculoskeletal or pelvic floor check up, just as you would see your dentist, PCP, or OB-GYN preventatively.
